Does The Perfect Vacation Really Exist?
It’s a question people have asked for decades. In a world where a lot can go wrong and be disappointing, could the perfect vacation really exist? Could you have the perfect time at a destination, feeling your best and experiencing the best? In my opinion, yes!
It’s all about the way you temper your expectations. You could have the most action-packed itinerary in the world, but you’re not going to think back on your vacation as the perfect trip if that schedule and the activities don’t suit you.
So let’s plan a vacation with this idea in mind. A ‘perfect’ vacation could be right around the corner, and if you plan it using the points below, you might just achieve your travel dreams!
Choose the Season for the Weather
What kind of climate do you like best? Maybe you’re a summer lover, and love visiting destinations when the temperature is soaring and you can show as much skin as you like. Or maybe you prefer the wintertime when it’s cold and dry and you can dress up in scarves and wool jumpers, sipping hot drinks in the snow.
Always choose your travel time in the season you like the best. Even if it’s ‘peak time’, and the prices are rising, you know you’re going to enjoy yourself the most. That makes it worth it! And, the perfect vacation has the perfect weather in the background, meaning you’ll be as comfortable as possible while still doing some fun and adventurous things.
Invite Your Favorite People (or go alone!)
Do you find it hard to travel in groups? Then don’t do it! Go with just a couple of your nearest and dearest, or even just go it alone. When you go it alone, you have the pick of everything you want to do, where you want to eat, and where you’re going to stay. You don’t have to deal with any complaints, anyone slowing you down, or someone deciding they want to go home early.
Of course, if you don’t like the idea of solo travel, it might take some practice to build up your courage. You could try a few day trips on your own to cities a few hours away from you, and then book your trip. You could also head online and join solo traveling groups; you can post any questions you like here, and even make a few friends you can meet out there.
Pick the Most Comfortable Accommodation
If you want to recline in style, book that expensive hotel. Yes, it’s a little out of your budget, but if there’s any one thing to use the budget on, it’s where you’re going to stay to get a good night’s rest. If you want to be safe and comfortable, don’t skimp here.
A good hotel is going to make you feel like the luckiest person in the world. You’re going to have access to a wonderful bathroom, a relaxing (and clean!) mattress, as well as a warm room if you’re somewhere cold, and some lovely air conditioning if you’re visiting somewhere that’s way too humid during the day!
Pack a Drone for the Best Shots
Do you love capturing the perfect pictures when you’re on vacation? Then you’re going to want to pack a drone. With a drone you can reach heights you’ll never be able to see otherwise, as well as capture more expansive scenes and panoramas that really add to the drama.
However, if you don’t already own a drone, they can carry a hefty price point. Be sure to do your research via blogs like DrDrone to find the best brand and make for your needs; if you’re a total tech noob, you’re going to want the simplest, most easy to use drone possible! And try to buy a drone early on so you’ve got time to practice using it as well!
Buy Good Travel Insurance
A quick point, but a very important one! You need good travel insurance, not just the cheapest you can find. You need a hardy policy that covers you in case of accidents, emergencies, lost items, and theft. If it’s comprehensive, it’s good enough for you!
Be a Bit Spontaneous
Sure, you might not quite like not knowing what you’re going to do next, or what shoes you need to wear to ensure you have a good grip. However, if you do something a little out of your comfort zone just once, you’ll have the best time ever.
After all, you’ve pushed yourself, you’ve tried something new, and you’ve made some memories while doing it. Whether this involves skiing on a slope, going rock climbing with just a harness, or visiting a waterfall and getting hit in the face by the spray, it’s never going to be a bad idea!
Of course, stay as safe as you can, and if you’re truly uncomfortable it’s worth it to back off. But if you’re there and feeling the moment, let it take you away with it!
Have a Killer Budget
This is probably the hardest point of all on this whole list. You need to have the actual funds available to build a killer budget, and the cost of living has made it quite hard to keep anything in the savings pot. But if you start saving early, you can save a few dollars a day and still have a pretty sizable budget to use for your next trip.
And let’s face it: when you’ve got the money there to use, every vacation is a lot more fun. You can spend on the food you really want to try and bring home the souvenirs you really want. You can even go on a local shopping spree and pick up new clothes, shoes, and accessories that can’t be found anywhere else.
The perfect vacation could exist, and it could be planned by you! Have some fun, try something new, and book somewhere comfortable!
