I have been wanting to try this device for almost a year! (In other words, I have been secretly stalking the company’s social media posts and posts by other moms about this product). I can honestly say there isn’t another gadget I’ve wanted to try more than this one.

This Christmas, my audio player dreams finally came true thanks to my son’s grandparents! After getting this as a gift for my son and having a few weeks to try it out, I only have 3 words: We Love Yoto!

For all who aren’t familiar, the Yoto player is a screen-free audio platform that lets kids explore 1000+ stories, music, activities, sounds effects, radios, podcasts and more

Taken directly from their site: “Yoto Player (3rd Generation) opens up kids’ creative play to a whole new world of potential. Build independence, inspire imagination and let kids from 3-12 + lead the way through family life.

No microphone. No camera. No ads.”

And, I couldn’t agree more with this description!

From the moment we set this up for our toddler, he has been in love! He will sit at his activity table and listen to the Yoto for almost an hour. And, this is saying a lot for a super energetic 2-and-a-half-year-old.

We started with the free Yoto app that goes with the player but very quickly advanced to ordering some Yoto cards for him. I really wanted my son to develop independence by picking his own stories versus me selecting what he listened to on my app.

The cards have been fabulous. We started with a Paw Patrol card and a Lion King card. My son loves putting the cards in the player himself and listening to the stories. I plan to build his Yoto library this year and slowly add more cards to his collection. Next, I think I’ll grab the Frozen: 5-minute stories card as my little guy recently watched Frozen and was mesmerized.

I’m also eyeing the card case as I definitely don’t want any cards to get misplaced. I found this card storage holder and this case as two good alternatives (in case I choose to go with something else besides the Yoto brand for the case). One accessory I know I will purchase soon is the case for the playerr. Unfortunately, my little guy has already spilled a bit of smoothie on the player. I would hate for him to do actual damage to the Yoto accidentally but just being an energetic toddler.

My son is 2 and a half and is completely capable of using this product on his own, but I could see how some children at this age may need adult help when using a Yoto. I would recommend this product to anyone with a child 3 and up. The website states it has story cards for kids up to the age of 12, so I’m looking forward to seeing how our Yoto grows with our family.

I highly recommend it for any parent with kiddos!

Age recommendation: 2.5 (if responsible) - 12
